Cocktails Over the Rainbow: The Barologist's Magical Night at Durham Cricket Club

When Durham Cricket Club reached out to us at The Barologist, we knew this was going to be

something special. They were planning a unique event — The Wizard of Oz Drone Show — and

wanted our Horsebox Cocktail Bar to bring the magic with a bespoke, film-inspired cocktail

menu.

With a crowd of festival-goers and families ready to be dazzled, we brought theatre, taste, and a

touch of sparkle to the evening.

A Wizard of Oz-Inspired Cocktail Menu

We created a themed cocktail lineup inspired by iconic characters from The Wizard of Oz,

designed to delight both the eyes and the taste buds.

The Ruby Slipper

• A vibrant red foamy cocktail printed with a delicate ruby slipper on top. Made with

  raspberry vodka, Chambord, and pineapple juice, this drink was as bold and glamorous as Dorothy herself.

Tin Man’s Treat

• A metallic grey cocktail with a sweet and sour twist. Crafted from Kwai Feh, lime juice,

  vodka, and sugar, it was the perfect tribute to our heart-seeking hero.

Lion’s Courage

• For those needing a bit of bravery (or a caffeine boost), this rich and creamy blend of vanilla vodka, Baileys, coffee, and sugar hit the spot.

Emerald City

• A green, shimmering showstopper complete with dry ice — this cocktail was a theatrical nod to the magical city at the end of the yellow brick road.

A Show-Stopping Experience

The event kicked off at Durham Cricket Club, with doors opening at 5pm. Despite a delay due

to wind, the drone show eventually lit up the sky at 8pm — and by then, the crowd was buzzing

with excitement (and cocktails!).

We received fantastic feedback throughout the night. Guests told us they’d never seen

anything like our Horsebox Bar at an event like this. It was a refreshing change from the usual

vendor setup — no generic beer taps or standard chip vans here. People were genuinely

excited to see something so immersive and imaginative.
